Blast From The ’90s
Whether you are an ardent follower of fashion trends or not, you will still agree that the trends from the ’90s are back in full force. In addition to the return of those trends and all other accompaniments, intense nostalgia for celebrities who were in the spotlight during that period has also staged a comeback. Specificity was a common feature of the aesthetic of that period and the founder of @90sanxiety attests to that fact.
The Instagram page, @90sanxiety, has quite a handful of nostalgic throwback pictures of different favorites from the 90s. To say the least, there is something for everyone on the page. For the TV shows and movies lovers, there are a lot of pictures to take them back in time as they feature newly revealed fashion moments as well as snapshots of celebrities from that period to leave one awestruck.
There are a lot of old pictures of celebrities on the page. Even though their faces are not totally unplaceable, there are, however, some of the pictures that will leave one surprised and maybe appreciative of their very visible changes. In an interview with the anonymous founder of @90sanxiety, the founder shared a lot of things from the inspiration behind the account, to what accounts for the success of the page and also the founder’s opinion on the ongoing ’90s hype.
Inspiration Behind the Account
The founder stated that the account was set up out of love for all things fashion. It was also set up as a novel creative channel and in an unending pursuit of things the founder considers cool. According to the founder, the inspiration was drawn from pre-existing accounts such as the inactive @90ssupermodelsdaily, @90smilk, and @90scigarettes.
The anonymous founder highlighted the underlying intention behind the account. The intention is to establish what could serve as a point of reference to that particular period while also maintaining a balance of aesthetic curation and documentation of the pop culture during the decade. The founder hinted that he/she was quite young at that period to have a full experience but added that he/she was sufficiently close as to have a connected feeling to the period.
The momentum gained by the account caused the founder to understand how real the page and its content are. Speaking on the origin of the name @90sanxiety, the founder also explained that it was born out of the fact that he/she gets obsessive about things deemed interesting and often gets anxious when it comes to posting about those things.
Noting that the account fully has content for the 1990s and nothing out of the period, the founder gave this as the reason why the page is fully anonymous. Although the founder added that his/her personal life has an influence on the post, it was added that the posts are not connected to the personal life in any manner.
Secret(s) Of Account’s Success
The founder highlighted timing as a major pillar of the success of the @90sanxiety account. The content from the 90s has only just begun getting more popular and the founder has a contrasting perspective.
According to the founder, he/she tries to constantly show people uncommon or unseen images or more like another angle or sometimes originals of celebrities and models who served as primary influencers at that period and generally she till serving as influencers in the current day. The page has pictures of celebs and models such as Beyonce, Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks among others.
In addition, the founder noted that the success of the page has to do with early follow and support from celebrities such as Kim K, Cara D, Cindy C, Emily R and Bella H who helped the page’s exposure. The founder also pointed @virgomood as a source of inspiration.
Speaking on the opinion on the ’90s hype, the anonymous founder conceded that there is a tendency for most fashion trends to be cyclic in nature. However, the trends from the 1990s are deemed pleasant by people across different age groups who were around during the period. In addition, those who were not even born during the age now have access to a lot of information about the period and this has left them somehow nostalgic.
